OUR METHODOLOGY

We teach a process, not a shortcut.

HWN helps learners define the decision, find relevant evidence, make disagreement visible and know when qualified guidance is needed.

01 · OUR METHODOLOGY

What the methodology is for

HWN is designed to improve financial judgement. Our guides organise the questions and evidence involved in a decision; they do not turn a complex case into a universal halal or haram verdict.

We do not tell Muslims what to buy. We teach them how to think more clearly about the decision in front of them.

02 · OUR METHODOLOGY

The six-stage process

  1. Define the decision.State the real question, the urgency and what outcome is needed.
  2. Identify the exact holding.Confirm the product, provider, ticker, share class, ISIN, pension fund or inherited asset.
  3. Gather current evidence.Use primary documents where possible and record the reporting date.
  4. Name the methodology.Make the published standard or scholarly approach visible instead of mixing thresholds.
  5. Apply both lenses.Consider Shariah permissibility separately from financial suitability.
  6. Record the next step.Document the reasoning, uncertainty, review date and questions to take to a qualified person.

The Two-Lens Filter

01

Shariah lens

What does the selected methodology require, and what evidence supports the assessment?

02

Investment lens

Does the investment suit the learner’s objectives, time horizon, risk and wider circumstances?

04 · OUR METHODOLOGY

How sources are treated

We prioritise evidence according to the question being answered:

  • Published Shariah standards and disclosed screening methodologies for methodology questions.
  • Official company, fund, pension and index documents for product facts.
  • Regulators, government departments and tax authorities for legal or tax information.
  • Recognised scholars and qualified advisers where interpretation or personal circumstances matter.

Screening providers may use different ratios, denominators, purification approaches and review dates. A result is therefore meaningful only when the methodology and date are known.

05 · OUR METHODOLOGY

How we handle scholarly disagreement

Recognised disagreement is presented as disagreement. HWN does not quietly combine the most convenient parts of different approaches or imply that one screening result settles every case. Learners are encouraged to choose a transparent, recognised source consistently and to seek qualified guidance when the matter is significant or unclear.

06 · OUR METHODOLOGY

Quality, review and corrections

We aim to separate sourced facts, interpretation and practical prompts. Material claims should be traceable to a named source, and time-sensitive information should be checked against current documents before use.

HWN does not claim independent Shariah certification or scholarly approval unless that is explicitly stated for a specific item. If you identify an error or a source that needs updating, contact contact@halalwealthnetwork.com with the page, claim and supporting evidence.

07 · OUR METHODOLOGY

The boundary

This methodology supports better questions and a clearer record. It does not provide a personal fatwa, regulated financial advice, legal advice or tax advice. Where the answer depends on personal circumstances, contested scholarship or a material financial consequence, take the Decision Record and relevant documents to an appropriately qualified scholar or professional adviser.
